This blog will serve as a way for Rachel, the writer, to present her research, findings and thoughts on the Outside Girl trope.
An Outside Girl is a female character that actively withdraws from her peers. She is usually (but is not required to be) an adolescent or in her early twenties. She is often smart, independent and funny, but cannot or will not fit in with others in her surroundings.
Rachel wrote her senior thesis on Outside Girls in the media and will continue to update this blog once or twice a week. Please feel free to share comments or suggestions for other Outside Girl characters.

I’m confused… why is my name on this entry?
Robin Lydenberg
Hello,
Your name actually isn’t used on the About page. It is used as source material for this post: https://outsidegirlsblog.wordpress.com/2014/02/14/the-cats-in-the-cradle-and-the-antique-silver-spoon/.
This blog is a part of my senior thesis and utilizes academic research. In this case, I am using your argument about Fun Home in order to give my own post credibility. It is not meant to cause offense in any way.
Best,
Rachel
Hi… just discovered your message. I wasn’t at all offended…just puzzled… congrats on your blog, belatedly…
